Exploitation & Contextualisation of Data from Honeypots into Useful Intelligence, &
The Sharing of Cyber Threat Intelligence
– The i4RMHONEY Framework
DIPLOMA IN INFOCOMM SECURITY MANAGEMENT
This project aims to guide users in the deployment of effective honeypots that can gather actionable intelligence and share them with the Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) community through CTI sharing platform.
The first part of the project aims to help users understand the difference between data, information and intelligence. This is important as it helps the user realise what intelligence is and from there, aids them in understanding what is it exactly that they want to collect from their honeypots.
Following that, users will be able to put into practice, the idea they have gathered after studying the framework created in this project – the i4RMHONEY Framework. The project team also set up a prototype honeynet, based off the Framework, coupled with some use cases as reference for users who are looking to set up their own honeynet.
After the setup of the honeynet, users might want to share the intelligence that they have gathered with others. They can do so again by referring to the Framework which will guide them on the things to consider before sharing intelligence as well as the best relative sharing platform to do so.
